Quote that best describes the group;
"We're so out of shape we get winded just wrestling with our conscience"

Jay, Carlo and Curt have been friends since school and always planned to do something crazy.

It looks like that will have to wait while they deliver this pizza. Carlo and Luigi are father and son (guess which is which) and started Scooters Pizza in 2000. Jay serves on the Scooters Pizza board and he and Curt are shareholders of the company. The chain is now the second largest in Africa with over 100 outlets in 6 years.

Since Luigi and Carlo both broke their left legs in motorcycle accidents within 3 months of each other, they should perhaps stick to pizza making. That's not what they think. It seems the guys will get very close during the 30 odd days so they've decided to take their own tents and toothbrushes. Good news that...

Bio's

At 63, Luigi should be the cautious one in the group. We doubt this however. Having spent most his life in Africa he understands the cultures and "ways" of doing business. Just don't put milk in his tea or bring the wrong food order!

Luigi can ride forever which means the rest of us will probably see his back most of the time. Luigi will no doubt keep the team on schedule and will take care of the mechanical side of the things. We can't wait to try and change a tyre or the oil!

Carlo is the self appointed navigateur for the trip and has been told to ride slower. He thinks he can write so will attempt to record the trip for posterity sake. His bike is the most tricked out one on the planet and will probably require a generator to run all the accessories. He's done a fair bit of riding and hates mud. Oh yes – he will also be taking a freezer on his bike so that he can deliver a pizza to some lucky lad in London. We don't think Carlo is normal in some respects.

Carlo's bike is rather predictably called "Speedy Gonzales"

When Curt and Carlo asked him if he wanted to be the support vehicle for the adventure, he thought about it for about 2 seconds. The prospect of sitting in a trail of dust, listening to an iPod in a Landrover for 9 hours a day didn't really excite him - so he decided to buy a bike and come along. Problem is, Jay is dangerous, at best, on an exercise bike, let alone on a 260kg BMW GS Adventure in the desert.  Potentially quite philosophical and a bit of a bunny hugger. Jay will take still photos and do his best to stay upright.

Jay has christened his bike "FB65", which was his radio call sign from a previous life.

Based in London, Curt is the most experienced rider in the group but we fear that the sparse London sunlight and cushy lifestyle have made him soft. His general thrill seeking attitude would suggest a lower than normal self preservation instinct, which is concerning.

Curt will try his best to get some sightseeing in and a few unplanned detours.
We will resist him with our best efforts. Curt will take care of the videoing of the trip.
